every year, i take some time to express my admiration and respect for christmas.. yes, christmas, folks.. i don't give a rat's a$$ when jesus was or wasn't born.
i don't care how many gift giving orgies the romans had.
i don't care about "pagan" customs derived from religions that are long dead, anyway.
Excellent!!!
Here's to a very Merry Christmas!!

(Xmas # 2 for us.)
this is my 2nd christmas after leaving the jw's.
last year there was drama surrounding the time and i never really focused on it.
this year is differant and i'm having a hard time with it.
Hello/welcome back Jen,

Wishing you and your sons a very merry Day After Christmas!

in my town we did.
each congregation had its own "pick up" team.
we would get together and play on a chosen sunday after the meetings.
More often than not it was touch or flag. Had to keep it on the down-low from my Dad and other hard-cord keepers of the faith.
No tackle football.
No wrestling.
And of course, nothing "orgzanized" (i.e. after school, with worldlies).

well things have changed big time for me.
on the 3rd of dec. finally, i have left my work at bethel and moved almost 500 kilometres away to a new life.. some of you were aware of my work in a european branch, and have kept my confidence.
for this i am eternally grateful...you know who you are.. the huge weight that has been taken off my shoulders is both a comfort and a relief.. when i settle into my new home properly, i intend to write some memoirs of life at the branch, hoping that others will find it of interest.. for now my future is for the first time uncertain and that makes it very very exciting, but i am no longer under the control of others yay!!.
2 WEEKS and still no memoirs?
My wife is DYING over here!
All the best to you Erik. We're here when you're ready.

did you enjoy it?.
do you recommend it from a purely culinary perspective?.

Dagothur: "Hormones have strong molecules, they can resist boiling and even digestion, so they are able to pass from our stomach right into the blood stream, unharmed or denaturated into even more dangerous hormone variations."
Do you have a source for this? I agree that it's an interesting idea.

before i get to the gem in this week's tms, let me let any of you newbies here up to date with us jdubs and schooling.
in the february 22, 2002 watchtower, the wtbts released the article titled "how my dream was fullfilled".
it was one of many typical jw stories of a good devout jdub "resisting temptation" and accepting the borg as absolute truth.
I wish we had a recording of that statement.
100% sincerity & conviction of belief were dripping from every word.
So sad.
The ironic thing is, I'm pretty sure the guy giving that part has a University Degree himself.

I don't know if it's my born-in JW upbringing or just my innate sensibilties but Gregor's words ring true with me:
To be truthful, there is a "ick" factor,
On one level this is irrational. I should probably cut down on my red meat intake, but I REALLY enjoy tucking into a really good, medium-rare "juicy" (translation: bloody) steak from time to time. But it doesn't "ick" me out in the least. However, talk about blood sausage or black pudding and I have NO desire whatsoever to partake. This makes no sense. But I don't see myself diving into a blood sausage anytime in the forseeable future.
FWIW, I love to indulge in buying a lottery ticket or saying "Have a nice Christmas" to a co-worker just to flip the bird to the Watchtower. But when it comes to eating blood, I thing I'll stay a good JW.
Blech.
